Neck pain and shoulder impingement
Around 6 months ago, I noticed that movement in my left shoulder had become really painful and I had constant pain in my upper arm, across the shoulder blade and at the base of my neck. I started sessions with Stephen Watts (Osteopath) and Mariam Mohyeddin (Asst. Physiotherapist) and for a while the therapy, taping and suggested exercises partially eased the pain. But I had an MRI done and was suggested surgery due to narrowing of the “medial arch”. Hating hospitals, surgery and pain in any form, I returned to Stephen for another consultation and I am so glad I did. He explained in detail what the physical problem really was and how with minor changes in posture coupled with Osteopathic treatment, we could possibly beat this. After only a couple of sessions, I am happy to say that the pain in my neck has all but disappeared and now working on my shoulder, for what I know will be a complete recovery. Thank you OHC, thank you Stephen!! Being spiritual by nature, I love and believe in the holistic nature of Osteopathy and recommend it as a total recovery tool for body, mind and soul.

13 year old footballer with hamstring injury
My 13 year old son is a keen footballer and athlete who had been plagued with recurring hamstring injuries over a 6 month period. Until we met Stephen, it appeared as though other expert help we sought were either giving us educated guesses at best or merely treating the symptoms. From the very first session, Stephen impressed me with his thorough and methodical approach. In all our weekly sessions, he combined highly intuitive hands-on therapy with a sound and systematic prescription for post-session follow-up. Stephen has the outstanding ability to apply strong grasp and recall of minute client information to formulate effective insights that addressed root causes. He guided us in such a way that my son was able to get back to full gear almost instantly after the rehabilitation. I cannot recommend Stephen Watts enough as an osteopath and sports injury consultant. He will not only treat the client but also impart tools that will help you to stay well.

Teacher with chronic mid back pain
I first started seeing Stephen on the advice of a friend. I had been suffering daily, intense back pain for almost a
year and despite numerous scans and x-rays, medication and ointments and intense treatment with two different specialists at well-established hospitals in the Klang Valley, the pain was not being alleviated. After one session with Stephen, the discomfort eased markedly and so it was to be every time I had treatment until today, with the pain all but gone.
I now see Stephen about once a month for other ailments that he helps me with whether they be football injuries or a reoccurrence of old ‘wounds’. Stephen is not only extremely good with his hands, he is also very knowledgeable about the body and reasons behind the problems it may experience; I just wish I’d discovered him earlier!

Postural pain post pregnancy
I first went to see Stephen in Summer 2012, a few months after giving birth to my first child. The additional weight carried during pregnancy, and then the new postures adopted for breastfeeding and carrying, meant my body was under different strains and stresses and I had a lot of aches, pains and stiffness, particularly in my shoulders and back.
It was my first experience of osteopathy and I was definitely a bit sceptical, so I didn’t know what to expect. Stephen is a really approachable person, and he made it easy to explain where the problems were, he also seemed very knowledgeable about the typical posture habits I’d developed over the past few months. He asked lots of questions and took his time in a genuine effort to work out exactly what was feeling uncomfortable and ‘not in the right place’ without lecturing me about what I ought not to be doing. He then used some osteopathic techniques to do some more diagnosis and then realign my muscles and joints. I was actually quite surprised how much better I felt after the first session, and he recommended some exercises to help strengthen the muscles and improve my posture.
Since that first visit, I’ve been back a few times and asked Steve to sort out a few other things that osteopathy can help. My GP refused to prescribe any medication when I fell ill with sinusitis as I was still breastfeeding my son. I had an osteopathy appointment that week, and Stephen suggested a technique that would help unblock the sinuses. It was a bit uncomfortable but I was quite desperate and so I thought it was worth a try. After days of suffering, almost immediately following the treatment I felt a difference, and by the next day my sinuses were totally clear.
Then finally, I can now say I’m a true convert to osteopathy as Steve sorted out a weird pain in my foot that I developed when on holiday. I woke up one morning and couldn’t put any weight on my foot, I was in agony. A podiatrist in Melbourne told me he couldn’t actually do anything, and that I was wearing the wrong shoes, but on my return home I booked in to see Steve who identified a quirky little muscle in my foot that apparently not everyone has and that he thought had got inflamed and tender through too much walking. Rather than working on this muscle alone, he identified some connecting muscles that were pulling on the foot and did some massage and manipulation on my leg to release the tension. He again described a couple of simple exercises I needed to do to tone the muscle and strengthen it in the right way. I’ve followed his advice, and and there’s been no recurrence since.
I am quite impressed with the range of things osteopathy can treat, so rather than suffering quietly with little niggles that then become a major problem, I make an appointment as it is pretty easy to get Steve’s opinion as to whether or not he can do something to improve the situation. He usually can. 🙂

Doctor and triathlete for injury prevention
I have been going to Stephen now for several months as I am an age-group GB Triathlete. His remedial and sports massage reduces my recovery times dramatically and he has worked superbly on an overuse hip problem I have that has allowed me to train at high intensity without aggrevating it. My fortnightly treatments are a life saver. Stephen is relaxed and laid-back and makes you feel at ease right from the outset. He is totally professional and as a GP I am highly impressed with his level of sports medicine knowledge. I cannot recommend his services enough.

Chronic lower back pain
I have been seeing Stephen for treatment of chronic lower back pains brought on by boxing and weight training. The results from his treatments have been excellent but I particularly like his style. He recognises that I am going to continue training regardless and has helped develop a program of treatments and training advice where I can work around my various injuries. Further more I have found his knowledge and advice on nutrition and diet invaluable.

I have been going to Stephen for quite some time now and he has relieved me of many injuries I have sustained through my sport. He has previously treated me for my shoulder (post operative), neck pain, tight calves and pulled hamstring. I feel very comfortable with him and always feel a lot better after his treatment. Steve is very good at what he does…
